Okay let me set this up real quick. Lately I've begun to understand the power of limitations. I say the power of limitations and not the unfortunate of limitations because I've realized that once you sit down with yourself and talk out the things you can do and can't do you can be much more constructive. It's a pretty humbling process but I'm glad I went through it. One limitation of mine has always been my study habits. I hardly ever studied for tests and barely scraped by. When I did study it was the night before or the day of the test and as soon as the information came in it was gone. But I escaped. I somehow pulled it together and graduated. It earned me my very own cubicle, the same cubicle where I sit writing this three years later. My hairline has receded a bit, I've put on about 20 pounds, I've learned how to cook, clean and shop for myself and I've developed a strong aversion to the thought of a mundane existence. I have determined that my escape route is graduate school. I want my masters so I can teach and inspire people to write. How do I get there though? I have to take the GREs. I have to study. So yes, one of my limitations is that I don't do well on standardized tests because I'm usually unprepared. One thing I am great at though, is rhyming. If you read this blog you know. What if my talent for rhyming could actually help other aspects of my life? I have to learn 400 vocabulary words in the next two months to do well on the verbal section. I can't just read flash cards and remember a sh*t load of vocab words, that's insane. But I can rhyme. And I can retain rhymes. I can write a song and have it memorized in 20 minutes. So here it goes. The GRE rhyme study session:

I’d reach the Zenith
The tip top peak of my dreams if
I bolstered my team with
Vocal achievements
Bombastic MCs speak with
Ostentation;
Vulgar tones spread across the nation
While
Some say my style’s convoluted;
Too complex for the common student
They still eulogize my prudent
Penchant for using
Facts over lies when making contentions
My work ethic is commensurate with my pension
So pay attention, don’t be a boor;
Insensitive oafs can’t daunt me no more
I sit back and breathe in the salubrious air
Without a care like a blithe aupair
Who complacently shares her deep erudition;
Scholarly intelligence keeps her efficient
And big smiles can assuage the pain
So take her advice and rescind your disdain
Don’t let the flow dry and desiccate
Don’t hate or denigrate
Or lay inert if you wish to slay the heavyweights
Converge your thoughts to solve the conundrum
In life sometimes all we need is love, son
